Thursday, March 19...

i woke up this morning feeling FANTASTIC. clean food, movement...
talk about a magic bullet!

before going to the gym today I had my usual coffee with agave and soy creamer.

thursday morning gym trip:
40 minutes of cardio 20 on the incline trainer, 20 on the kickyurass precor

stats: 3.44 miles
423 calories left behind
719 vertical feet climbed
following my cardio i ended my session with one 30 count set of curls
(have you noticed michelle obama's arms? i want them. strong women rule.)

breakfast: big glass of OJ
yogurt parfait - 1/2 cup granola (mine) with 1 heaping tablespoon of flax seed mixed in
1 serving tj's organic vanilla yogurt
1 cup sliced strawberries
lunch: 1 cup couscous mixed with about a cup of chopped spinach
and the rest of that can of aduki beans that i've been eating all week
splashed with a little olive oil
a big glass of water
snack: a little bit of chopped dark chocolate mixed with approximately
2 tablespoons of pecans and craisins
green tea mix - yum yum
dinner: egg white salad (hard boiled egg whites mixed with a few tablespoons of fat free
greek yogurt, a little mustard, dill, salt and pepper)
on 2 slices whole grain bread
a cup of soy milk
snack: 3 graham crackers and a glass of soy milk

March 18...

wednesday begins with a trip to the gym
stats: 5 sets of what i call 3 times 3
this consists of 3 different weight bearing exercises
2 that focus on upper body/1 on lower body
3 different moves - 39 reps total for each move (i do 13 reps for each exercise)
5 sets, or different combinations for a total of 585 reps today
after that i ran 3 miles - i run a pretty slow mile but
i'm happy with myself for sticking it out - my knee was bugging me halfway through
totals: 35 minutes cardio, 45 minutes weight lifting

breakfast: a pre-workout cup of coffee with a dash of organic sugar and soy creamer
post workout:
2 healthy girl pancakes with a scant teaspoon of maple syrup (that's all i had)
protein shake: 1 cup of plain light soy milk blended with 1/3 cup fresh blueberries,
1 heaping scoop chocolate soy protein powder, an ice cube and
a squirt of tj's midnight moo organic chocolate syrup
lunch - about a half cup of Elizabeth's fantastic minestrone
a cup or so of green salad
1/2 whole wheat roll
snack - 3/4 cup cashews (a splurge)
dinner - 3 very small thin slices of beef roast
a side of mixed vegetables and 4 roasted baby red potatoes
1 piece of bread drizzled with olive oil, garlic salt and a dash of cheese
snack - a mug of mixed tea - a bag of sleepy time and a bag of chamomile
2 cinnamon graham crackers (trader joes - the best)
night night!

Day 2 and feeling awesome...

Breakfast - a mug of coffee with a little organic sugar and
a splash of soy creamer
1 packet of cream of wheat with 1/4 cup organic oat bran,
1/3 cup sliced strawberries, a few tablespoons of pecans, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
and a splash of soy milk mixed in
OJ - 1 cup

Mid-morning - a mug of mixed blend tea - yogi super-antioxidant
along with a bag of Trader Joe's Organic Mint Melange

Lunch - 1 cup of couscous topped with a good half cup of spinach
and about a third cup of aduki beans
drizzled with a little olive oil
a tall glass of water
and a few minutes later...
another mug of mixed tea and a few little chunks of rich, dark chocolate
Dinner - a big fat glass of dark red wine
a chicken/dressing type caserole with carrots
sweet potatoes sauteed with garlic and shallots
a slice of crusty italian bread
the only other thing i would have changed about this day is that i would have excercised, if i could. i had an early staff meeting this morning and didn't get home until nearly 6. by that point all i could do was just sit on my front porch and enjoy the last few minutes of this gorgeous day.

morning gym workout at the Y - 45 minutes on the incline trainer

stats: 2001 vertical feet climbed
3.17 miles
538 calories burned

breakfast - coffee with soy creamer
organic low-fat vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup granola
1/2 cup sliced strawberries
1 cup OJ
snack - 1 orange
lunch - 3/4 cup udon noodles topped with 2/3 cup organic spinach
and 1/3 cup aduki beans
drizzled with about a tablespoon of EVOO
seasoned with salt and pepper
a tall glass of water
green tea & a few bites of dark chocolate to round it all out

snack - one Trader Joe's mini bagel with 1 tablespoon of cherry preserves

dinner - baked salmon topped with pesto, parmesan and pine nuts
roasted cauliflower with bread crumbs and EVOO
1/2 cup couscous
tall glass of soy milk

snack - 1/2 healthy girl pancake
